STMARKS NEWSLETTER 12 (24 JANUARY 2025)
UPDATE ON BANGKOK’S AIR QUALITY SITUATION

In light of the ongoing concern over air quality, we have implemented several precautionary measures to minimize exposure to harmful particles. Each classroom has been equipped with an air purifier that is specifically selected based on the room size and has a strong cleaning capability to ensure clean air for our students throughout the school day.
Additionally, we have installed an air quality monitoring device on campus. Every morning, our school nurse takes readings both inside and outside the building to assess air quality levels. On days when the PM2.5 reading is high, we will take immediate action. The school administration will make an announcement informing all students and staff to remain indoors, and all outdoor activities (including those held in the outdoor gymnasium, playground, and soccer fields) will be canceled for the day.
It’s important to note that our school building is a closed environment with air-conditioning running throughout school hours. This ensures that the PM2.5 levels within the building remain very low. As most of the school day takes place indoors, students’ exposure to harmful levels of PM2.5 is minimal. We hope this information reassures you that we are actively monitoring the situation and taking all necessary precautions to protect our students.
On a related note, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has recently sent a survey to all international schools, requesting feedback on whether to close schools if the PM2.5 issue continues at these high levels. We are currently awaiting further guidance from the MOE. In the event the situation persists, please be prepared for the possibility that the school may implement an online learning scheme to ensure the continued safety of our students.
OPEN DAY 2025
Our Open Day, held on January 20, 2025, was very well received, with over 50 families attending the session and showing genuine interest in our school.
The event began with a warm welcome from our School Director and Principal, who shared insights into the school’s vision, accomplishments, and future goals. Their presentation highlighted our commitment to providing an excellent education and fostering a strong partnership with parents.
A special highlight of the event was the presence of a representative from SCSA and universities, who spoke about the opportunities available for students beyond their time at our school. This added valuable perspective on how we are preparing students for their future endeavors.
Parents had the chance to explore the campus through guided tours, offering a closer look at the facilities, classrooms, and spaces that support our students’ learning. During the tours, they experienced firsthand the vibrant, interactive environments where their children grow and thrive.
The event also featured a special presentation by our talented Year 4 and Year 6 students. Their enthusiasm and passion for learning were evident as they showcased their Mathematics, English, and Science skills. Our guest families were highly impressed by the students' abilities and the work they had been doing in class.
We are delighted by the strong turnout and the interest shown in our school's achievements, curriculum, and facilities. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with families, reflect on the school’s progress, and look ahead to the exciting opportunities the future holds.
WACE PROGRAM PARENT INFORMATION SESSION
On January 20, 2025, we hosted an informative Parent Information Session at our Srinakarin campus, focusing on key academic topics related to the rigorous ATAR Program and how it can help students secure placements at elite universities worldwide. This session provided an invaluable opportunity for parents to gain insights into the academic pathways available to our students.
Our School Director and Principal also presented an overview of how our school aligns with these academic systems to ensure that our students are well-prepared for future academic challenges. St. Marks equips our Secondary students with options for various pathways, including Medical, Engineering, Business, and Social studies, complemented by activities that allow students to explore and experience these fields. They emphasized the importance of both academic rigor and personal development in helping students succeed in local and international university settings.
We greatly appreciate the engaging discussions and thoughtful questions raised by our parents. The session offered a valuable opportunity for parents to connect with school leadership and learn more about the pathways that can support their children’s future academic success.
We thank everyone who attended and look forward to continuing these important conversations as we support our students in achieving their academic and career goals!
