AWARD OF EXCELLENCE BREAKFAST

On Friday, 1 November, we hosted our first Award of Excellence breakfast for this Academic Year. This event was dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating our students' exemplary character.
The Award of Excellence breakfast is a cherished tradition at our school. It serves as an opportunity to spotlight students who consistently demonstrate exceptional character, both in their interactions with peers and in their contributions to our school community.
KINDER MATHS: COUNTING NUMBERS
In their recent math class, our kindergarten students took big steps toward identifying and memorising numbers. The lesson began with an engaging warm-up, counting together to get everyone in the math mindset. Next, the teacher posted small numbered cardboard pieces on the board. When the teacher called out a number, the teacher invited the students to find and bring the correct piece. This interactive approach made learning fun and strengthened their number recognition skills, giving each student a chance to shine and grow in confidence.
PRE-PREP P.E.: BUILDING SKILLS THROUGH FUN AND PLAY
Our Pre-prep students recently enjoyed an engaging and energetic P.E. class, designed to develop coordination, balance, and motor skills through fun activities. Guided by their enthusiastic teacher, the children participated in a series of playful exercises, learning to follow instructions and move together in rhythm. This class not only kept them physically active but also supported their teamwork and listening skills.
PREP MANDARIN: ACTION WORD "跑 PAO"
In their recent Mandarin class, Prep students enjoyed an energetic lesson focused on the character "跑 (pǎo)," which means "run." The teacher introduced the action word while the students practiced saying it aloud in Mandarin, moving along to lively music. This interactive approach helped them link the word to its meaning. Building on this, they crafted sentences that included "跑," exploring how to describe running actions in different contexts.
To deepen their understanding, students took turns reading sentences out loud, honing their reading skills and reinforcing sentence structure. The class concluded with a writing practice, where students focused on correctly forming each stroke of the character "跑." This lesson enhanced their vocabulary and enriched their language and writing skills!
YEAR 3 ENGLISH: USING THE RIVER
In their recent English class, our Year 3 students immersed themselves in the book *Using the River*, honing their reading and comprehension skills as they engaged with the story. The teacher guided them through a discussion about the river’s journey—where it flows and how it serves those along its banks. Inspired by the book, students then completed an activity where they brainstormed and recorded 10 different uses of water. This lesson not only strengthened their English skills but also encouraged them to think about the essential role water plays in everyday life.
