SRINAKARIN CAMPUS UPDATE (MAY 2024)
We're thrilled to share the latest updates on our new Srinakarin campus, set to open its doors this August. This month, significant milestones have been achieved as we gear up for the big move.
Firstly, the safety and security of our students and staff remain paramount. We're pleased to announce that all CCTV devices and fire detectors/alarm systems have been successfully installed throughout the campus, ensuring a secure learning environment.
In addition to prioritizing safety, we've been enhancing our facilities to provide the best possible learning experience. The delivery of shelves for our library and new tables for student use marks another step forward in creating an inviting and functional space for education and exploration.
With each passing day, the excitement grows as we near the completion of our new campus building. Every detail is meticulously attended to from infrastructure to interiors, ensuring a seamless transition for our students and staff.
We eagerly anticipate the opening of our new Srinakarin campus and are immensely proud of the progress made thus far. Stay tuned for more updates as we countdown to an exciting new chapter at St. Mark's Australian International School!
GOVERNMENT OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA SCHOOL CURRICULUM AND STANDARDS AUTHORITY VISIT

Earlier this month, St. Mark's was honored to welcome Ms. Ange Smith, Associate Director from the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA), to both of our campuses. Ms. Smith's visit focused on exploring potential collaboration opportunities between St. Mark's and the Western Australian Government in several key areas, including curriculum enhancement, tertiary studies support, and student exchange programs.
During her visit, Ms. Smith engaged with our dedicated teachers who instruct the ATAR program, gaining valuable insights into their teaching methodologies and curriculum implementation. Additionally, she toured some classrooms, observing the active and vibrant learning environment at St. Mark's.
We are excited about the possibilities this collaboration could bring and are grateful for the opportunity to showcase the excellence of our educational programs.
KINDER MATHS: COUNTING AND ADDING
This week, our kindergarten students had an exciting and interactive math lesson where they practiced counting and adding objects. Each student took turns going up to the front to count objects projected on the board. With eager anticipation, they pointed to the correct answer or the number that corresponded to the objects displayed.
After mastering counting, the students moved on to a new challenge: addition. The teacher showed a series of pictures, each illustrating different groups of objects. One by one, the students approached the board, adding the objects together and pointing to the correct sum. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow with each successful answer.
To reinforce their learning, the students then completed an activity in their workbooks. This allowed them to apply their new counting and addition skills in a fun and engaging way. The entire lesson was a fantastic blend of hands-on practice and collaborative learning.
PRE-PREP TECHNOLOGY: PHONICS
In our latest pre-prep technology class, our students have made impressive strides in phonics. With headphones securely in place, students eagerly explored letters and sounds, listening attentively to how each letter is pronounced and exploring the pronunciation of example words.
Engaging with an interactive website, students didn’t just stop at listening. They actively participated in selecting the correct letters during various fun-filled activities. This hands-on approach not only reinforced their understanding of phonics but also made learning an enjoyable experience.
The benefits of this class extended beyond phonics. Students also honed their basic computer skills, learning essential techniques such as clicking and holding the mouse. These foundational skills are crucial as they begin to navigate the digital world with increasing confidence and competence.
Their eagerness to learn and their growing computer skills are impressive.
PREP MANDARIN: LESSON REVIEW
Our prep students have been making remarkable progress in their Mandarin class! Recently, they reviewed previous lessons and worked in groups to combine words using characters they had learned. This collaborative approach helps them better recognize and understand the meanings of the characters.
For reading practice, students reviewed and read each sentence aloud, reinforcing their comprehension and pronunciation skills. In the writing segment, they enjoyed guessing words from given clues and practiced writing these words on the whiteboard.
We are thrilled to see our prep students actively engaged and improving their Mandarin language skills with such enthusiasm and teamwork!
