AWARD OF EXCELLENCE BREAKFAST
On Friday, April 26 we hosted our last Award of Excellence breakfast for this Academic Year. This event was dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating the exemplary character of our students.
The Award of Excellence breakfast is a cherished tradition at our school. It serves as an opportunity to shine a spotlight on those students who consistently demonstrate exceptional character, both in their interactions with peers and in their contributions to our school community.

PREP SCIENCE: FOOTPRINTS
In their recent science lesson, our prep students had a blast learning about animal footprints! They started by spotting different prints, like those of an ostrich and a horse, and got interested.
Then, they got paired up to do something fun. Each student took turns tracing their partner's footprint and coloring it nicely on paper.
This activity wasn't just about footprints. It helped them work together and be creative. Now, their colorful footprints decorate their classroom walls, showing what they've learned.
YEAR 2 MATHS: COMPARING FRACTIONS
In our Year 2 math class, students explored fractions! Using a hands-on approach, each student received a card resembling a pizza slice. They eagerly assembled the pieces to understand how fractions make up a whole.
After creating their pizzas, students collaborated in groups to write their fractions on the board. This interactive activity reinforced their understanding and encouraged teamwork and communication skills.
Next, students moved on to the exciting task of comparing fractions. With enthusiasm, students used symbols like greater than (>), smaller than (<), and equal to (=) to compare their fractions. Through this engaging exercise, they mastered fractions and sharpened their critical thinking abilities.
At the end of class, happy faces showed how much fun they had learning.
YEAR 3 MANDARIN: VOCABULARIES AND SENTENCES
Students enthusiastically delved into Lesson 16 in our Year 3 Mandarin class. This lesson focused on essential vocabulary and sentences, such as the importance of kindness, caring for pets, hobbies like singing and ice skating, and the value of concentration during lessons and homework.
To reinforce their learning, they started by reviewing keywords and phrases together. Then, they turned learning into play with an engaging game. Through the game, students had fun while deepening their understanding of how to use these words and sentences in everyday situations.
With each lesson, our students grow not only in their language skills but also in their understanding of important values and life skills.
YEAR 8 MANDARIN
The Year 8 students learned IGCSE Chinese writing. The teacher provided students with five clear steps to guide them through the process. The students followed the five steps to write a magazine article. First, they read the instructions, making sure they understood how to write and how many words to use. Then, they picked a title for their article. After that, they carefully read the questions in the instructions, underlining the question words, and making sure they knew what to write about.
Next, they divided the questions into three parts and started writing answers for each part. The teacher advised them to start their sentences with the question words. Also, they were encouraged to use vocabulary, complex sentence structures, and transition words as much as possible. Finally, they checked to see if they had written enough words and reviewed the overall impression of the article.
In conclusion, this writing class provided students with valuable skills that extend beyond language proficiency. By following structured steps, students enhanced critical thinking, organization, and articulation abilities. Mastering writing empowers effective expression in diverse contexts, fostering confidence and self-assurance. Ultimately, the benefits of this class shape students into competent communicators and lifelong learners, making it an essential part of their academic journey.
