CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AT SRINAKARIN
We are happy to share with you the progress made on the construction of our new school campus at Srinakarin. Over the past month, significant progress has been made on the building, and we are excited to see the campus taking shape.
The roof of the building has been completed with the application of foam materials, which will help with roof insulation. This addition will ensure that the building remains energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, providing a comfortable learning environment for our students.
We are also pleased to inform you that the installation of aluminum glass windows has been completed. Our building features laminated glass, which provides enhanced safety and security for our students. Additionally, the glass is reflective, which will help to reflect sunlight out of the classrooms and create a comfortable learning environment.
The installation of acoustic ceilings on levels 2-4 has been completed as well. These ceilings have the ability to absorb sounds in the classrooms, ensuring that our students can focus on their studies without being distracted by external noises.
Finally, we are happy to announce that the installation of the marble facade in front of the elevators has been completed for all levels. This addition adds an elegant touch to the building's design, and we are sure that it will impress everyone who visits our campus.
We are excited about the progress made on the construction of our new campus and are looking forward to welcoming our students and parents to this state-of-the-art facility in the near future.
UPCOMING IGCSE EXAMINATION SCHEDULE
We are writing to inform you about the schedule for the upcoming IGCSE examinations, which will take place between April to June 2022. The IGCSE examination is a significant milestone for our Year 9-10 students, and we want to ensure that every student is fully prepared and ready to succeed.
The IGCSE examination is an important qualification recognized by universities and employers worldwide. We encourage all students to take the examination seriously and to work hard to achieve their best results. As such, we have prepared a schedule that will provide students with ample time to revise and prepare for the examination.
Our teachers have been and will be providing students with additional support and resources to help them prepare for the examinations.

SECONDARY FIELD TRIP: MAMA FACTORY
We are pleased to inform you that our recent field trip to the MAMA noodle factory was a great success! The trip was organized as part of our ongoing effort to provide our students with hands-on learning experiences that are both educational and enjoyable.
The visit to the MAMA noodle factory was especially exciting, as it allowed our students to witness the entire process of making noodles, from mixing the dough to cutting and packaging the final product. Our students were able to see the machines in action.
The tour was led by knowledgeable and engaging guides who provided a wealth of information about the history of noodles and the science behind their production. Our students were fascinated by the process and asked many insightful questions.
Overall, the field trip was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about the food production industry and experience a unique aspect of local culture. We are grateful to the noodle factory for their hospitality and look forward to future educational opportunities like this.
THAI MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE
The Thai Model United Nations conference for secondary schools was held last weekend at Brighton College in Bangkok. The three-day conference brought together over 400 students from more than 50 schools from around Asia and overseas. This year St Mark’s was represented for the first time by Fafa and Tinn. They were assigned earlier this year a country and a committee to represent during the three days. Fafa represented Hungary and was a member of the WHO (World Health Organisation). This committee’s task was to debate and resolve the issue of ‘governmental regulation of recreational drugs’ and ‘the issue of animal testing.” Tinn, on the other hand, was a member of the Press Corp representing FRANCE24. The Press Corp debated and discussed how to ‘ensure accessible and accurate information for all.”
Both our students enjoyed the opportunity immensely and performed admirably. The first day was a dive into the unknown, however by the second day they had formed alliances with other delegates and felt confident in asking questions and defending positions. St Mark’s is looking forward to taking part in the next conference.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT: SLAM POETRY
We are thrilled to announce that one of our very own students has won the Slam Poetry Contest - Final Round!
Fafa, a Year 10 student, competed against a talented group of poets and emerged as the winner with her powerful and moving performance.
The competition was held on March 23 at Gateway Ekkamai, and featured some of the best young poets in the region. Our school community is immensely proud of Fafa's achievement, and we want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to her for her hard work, dedication, and creativity.
KINDER ART: LETTER "V"
We are excited to share with you our recent art class lesson on the letter "V" in our Kindergarten class.
In this class activity, the teacher began by introducing the letter "V" and discussing its shape and sound. Our students then focused on creating art that incorporated the letter "V". We used a variety of materials such as paper, crayons, and colored pencils to create vibrant and unique colors.
Our students explored different techniques such as folding and cutting paper to create their "V" artwork.
Through this activity, our students were able to not only practice their fine motor skills and artistic creativity but also reinforce their understanding of the letter "V" in a fun and engaging way.
YEAR 3 THAI CLASS: VARIOUS COMPONENTS OF A SENTENCE
We are pleased to share with you the content covered in our Year 3 Thai class this week. Our students have been learning about the various components of a sentence, including the subject, verb, object, and adjectives.
During this week's lesson, our students have been focusing on the grammar behind constructing grammatically sound sentences. By understanding the different components of a sentence, our students will be able to construct sentences that are not only grammatically correct but also convey clear meaning.
Our students have been introduced to the subject of a sentence, which is the person, place, or thing that the sentence is about. They have also learned about the verb, which is the action or state of being, and the object, which is the person, place, or thing that the verb is acting upon.
Additionally, our students have learned about adjectives, which are words that describe or modify nouns or pronouns. By incorporating adjectives into their sentences, our students will be able to add more detail and depth to their writing.
With continued practice and reinforcement of these concepts, our students will be able to construct sentences that are not only grammatically correct but also convey clear and concise meaning.
YEA 6 MATHS: INTEGERS
In our Year 6 math class, their lesson recently focuses on integers.
Over the past week, our students have been working diligently to understand the fundamental concepts of integers, including positive and negative numbers, number lines, absolute value, and operations such as addition and subtraction.
The teacher used a variety of resources, including visual aids, real-world examples, and interactive activities, to help the students grasp these concepts fully. Students were also encouraged to work collaboratively and communicate their reasoning and problem-solving strategies with their peers.
YEAR 9 MANDARIN: SPEAKING TEST PRACTICE
Our Year 9 students have been diligently practicing Mandarin in their Mandarin class in preparation for their IGCSE exams. Mandarin is a complex language that requires dedication and consistent effort to master, and we are proud of the progress our students have made thus far.
In addition to regular classroom instruction, our students have been engaging in various activities to improve their Mandarin skills. These activities include watching Mandarin videos, reading Mandarin literature, and practicing speaking/conversation and writing in Mandarin. Our teachers have also provided extra support by offering individualized feedback and guidance to each student.
We believe that learning Mandarin is not only beneficial for academic purposes but also for personal and professional growth. As Mandarin is the most widely spoken language in the world, it provides our students with valuable skills that can open up new opportunities and enhance their global perspective.
We are confident that with continued practice and dedication, our Year 9 students will excel in their Mandarin exams and become proficient in this important language.
