LEARNING IN ACTION
Global Problems Are Our Problems - The "Think Tank" Projects

"Think Tanks" projects are initiated in our Secondary classes to allow students to have an opportunity to be involved with suggesting solutions to some of our world's serious problems that are plaguing our society.
Students were explained what "Think Tanks" are and how they can function as influential social and political agents in modern societies. Specifically, how "Think Tanks", through scientific research and campaigning, can greatly influence governance, institutions, and policy in the fields of economics, justice, and the environment. A wide array of global and country-specific problems were discussed in the classroom before students made their choices on which particular ones they would like to focus on. Students then started researching in more depth and working on the suggestions on what sort of governmental and social interventions could be employed to fully resolve or reduce the negative implications of these problems. The objective of the "Think Tanks"
- Increase students' awareness of social and environmental issues
- Advance students' ability to research and discuss complex topics
- Facilitate group-work skills, creative and presentation skills.
- Develop students' ability to influence and persuade their audiences
Students are required to produce posters outlining the problems that they have decided to focus on and make an accompanying video clip in which they will present their ideas - a brief analysis of each problem under examination and suggestion of solutions that are delivered in an optimistic and compelling. manner.
Incredible Insects
Learning to distinguish the different characteristics between various insects, arachnids, and gastropods; The Year Four class use their analytical and descriptive skills to create a:
What/Who am I? Can you guess which insects they are describing?
Seed Planting
St. Mark’s believes that the most important seed that a child plant is the seed of kindness and the most important crop that yields in a child’s heart is happiness.
Here’s a video of our Pre-Prep students in their seed planting activity during their Science class. They learned step-by-step on how to grow plants from seeds to seedlings. Students observed the changes as the seeds begin to sprout and grow over time.
This simple kids’ science activity is a hands-on way to show our young minds the wonders of nature and to remind them that all things will turn out well when we add some tender loving care to it.

The aim of our Art Competition this semester is to encourage creativity and to provide opportunities for artistic development among our students.
Under the theme “Life After Lockdown,” St. Mark’s students displayed their artistic talents and presented their fantastic artworks with many wonderful ideas put forth into papers.
All of our students’ ideas presented are based on the students’ own original work and many are really high-standard pieces of works, as can be seen from the vivid colours being represented in these drawings. Congratulations to the winners of this round of our Arts Competition.

SRINAKARIN CAMPUS UPDATE
This month our school construction progress quickly and the first 3 floors of the main school building are now complete.
Floor to floor construction follows a 3-week cycle and at this rate, we would expect that by early September, the whole building structure should finish. In this video, close to 200 cubic metre of concrete were pumped up the building structure to construct the second floor of our school building. Three days after the concrete has been set, post-tension cables will be tightened.
