GEOGRAPHY FIELD TRIP 2025
Recently, our geography students embarked on an exciting and educational field trip to Bangsaen Beach, where they put their classroom learning into practice by investigating coastal processes firsthand.
Armed with their knowledge and investigative tools, the students explored the dynamic interactions between the ocean and the shoreline. They observed wave activity closely—studying the swash and backwash of breaking waves to understand their energy and direction. By measuring wave frequency, they were able to classify the waves as either constructive, which deposits sand, or destructive, which erodes the shoreline.
The students also examined longshore drift, a key process in the movement of sediment along the coast. Using ranging poles and a clinometer, they measured the angle and slope of the beach from the low-water mark to the high-water mark. These measurements allowed them to create a detailed beach profile diagram, providing insight into the long-term effects of erosion and deposition.
Their findings revealed that Bangsaen Beach has a relatively flat profile, with minimal elevation change between the low and high tide marks. This, along with the presence of constructive waves, led to a clear conclusion: deposition is the dominant coastal process at Bangsaen, steadily building up the beach with sand.
This field trip was not only an opportunity for students to apply scientific methods in a real-world setting but also deepened their understanding of the natural processes shaping our coastlines.
Well done to all our young geographers for their curiosity, teamwork, and excellent fieldwork skills!

UPCOMING YEAR 8 IGCSE SELECTION MEETING
Last week, our school hosted a special IGCSE Subject Selection Meeting for our upcoming Year 8 students and their families. This important session marked a key milestone in our students’ academic journey, as they begin to prepare for the internationally recognised IGCSE examinations in the years ahead.
Led by our school manager and dedicated teaching staff, the meeting provided a clear overview of what students can expect in Years 8, 9, and 10. Our team introduced each subject in detail from the core subjects like English, Mathematics, and Science, to a range of elective options such as Business Studies, Geography, Mandarin, and etc.
Teachers shared the topics and skills that will be taught in class, giving parents and students a glimpse into the learning journey ahead. This included both academic goals and how each subject helps build critical thinking, communication, and practical skills essential for success in the IGCSE exams and beyond.
Importantly, students were given the opportunity to consider and choose the IGCSE subjects they are most passionate about. This early selection allows them to focus their efforts, explore areas of interest in greater depth, and take greater ownership of their learning.
We are excited to see our future Year 8 students take this important step with confidence and curiosity. With the support of their families and teachers, they are well on their way to a successful IGCSE path!
KINDER ART: SCISSOR PRACTICE

In art class, our kindergarten students put their scissor skills to the test — by making French fries 🍟! Don’t worry, not real ones but adorable, paper-crafted fries that helped our students practice fine motor coordination and safe scissor handling.
With bright yellow paper, focused hands, and lots of excitement, the students carefully snipped and shaped their "fries" before tucking them into handmade red paper cartons. It was a fun and imaginative way to strengthen their cutting abilities while also exploring shapes and color.
We are so proud of their progress and creativity!
YEAR 2 ART: STRING ART

In Year 2 art class, our talented students explored the art of string art, and what better shape to start with than a heart? Using colorful string and lots of focus, each student carefully created their very own heart-shaped masterpiece.
This hands-on activity encouraged patience, precision, and creativity as students wrapped and weaved their string with care. It was wonderful to watch their concentration and pride as their artworks took shape, one loop at a time.
Each heart tells a story of effort and imagination and we couldn’t be prouder of their work.
YEAR 7 MUSIC: RECORDER
Our Year 7 students have been making beautiful music in class! This term, they’ve been learning to play the recorder, a fun and foundational instrument that helps build musical skills such as rhythm, breath control, and note reading.
Under the guidance of our music teacher, students have been exploring different notes, learning to read sheet music, and practicing simple melodies. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they move from individual notes to playing full tunes together as a group.
The recorder is not only a great entry point into the world of music, but also teaches important life skills like patience, listening, and collaboration. Whether it’s their first time picking up an instrument or they’ve had some experience before, every student is making progress and enjoying the musical journey.
