    SHOWCASE Y4 MANDARIN

Our Year 4 Mandarin students had the opportunity to present their speaking skills in front of their parents, teachers, and classmates.

As part of the showcase, a series of pictures was shown on the board. Students worked in pairs or small groups to create a short dialogue or story based on the images. Each group took turns presenting their story in Mandarin, using vocabulary and sentence structures they had learned in class.

The activity allowed students to practice speaking clearly, using correct tones, and expressing ideas in Mandarin. It was also a fun and creative way for them to build confidence in using the language in front of an audience.

    SHOWCASE Y2 ENGLISH

Our Year 2 students proudly shared what they have been learning in their English class through a Poetry Showcase.

The students began by introducing the different types of poems they had explored, including:

    • Acrostic Poems

    • Diamante Poems

    • Haiku Poems

    • Cinquain Poems

    • Rhyming Poems (AABB)

    • List Poems with Onomatopoeia

Each student then took turns reciting their own acrostic poem, which they practiced in class. They spoke with confidence and expression, showing their growing skills in English and performing poetry.

To close the showcase, the whole class came together to perform a group poem titled "I Am a Tree." It was a wonderful way to end the presentation, highlighting teamwork and their shared love of language.

    SHOWCASE Y4 MATHS:

Our Year 4 students took the lead in a special Maths Showcase, where they demonstrated how they solve word problems using different strategies.

During the session, students explained various approaches to understanding and solving word problems, such as using bar models. They showed confidence as they walked the audience through each method and explained their thinking clearly.

To make the session more interactive, students also invited the parents to join in a hands-on activity. They handed out word problems and challenged the parents to solve them using one of the strategies presented. It was a fun and meaningful way to show how maths can be both practical and enjoyable.

The showcase gave parents a better understanding of how maths is taught in class and how students learn to think critically and solve problems in different ways.

    SHOWCASE Y1 SCIENCE

Our Year 1 students presented what they have been learning in their Science class about the water cycle. It was a fun and informative session where students explained the stages of the water cycle—evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection—and why it is important to life on Earth.

To demonstrate their understanding, the students performed a live experiment showing condensation and evaporation. They poured hot water into a bowl, covered it with cling wrap, and placed ice on top. Everyone watched as water droplets began to form under the cling wrap—just like how clouds form in the sky!

The students also talked about water safety, focusing on water vortexes. To show how a vortex works, they created one using two plastic bottles connected together, with water and food dye inside. When they flipped and swirled the bottles, a small vortex formed—just like a mini tornado in water. They explained how vortexes can be dangerous in real life, especially in deep water.

We are so proud of our Year 1 students for explaining science concepts clearly and presenting their experiments with excitement.
